Tape Ins are a great option for those with finer hair because they lay extremely flat to the head. With the Tape In method, your hair is facing in a downward motion the way it grows naturally, meaning it will lay flat and grow downward. One downfall to this method would be the maintenance. Because the tightening process is more labor intensive than the install, maintenance appointments will take longer than the first install appointment. Maintenance appointments are also more expensive than the install appointment. Not recommended for those who are rough and tough on their hair because of the glue. This method works best with fine to medium hair.

Tape In Maintenance
The process of tightening tape in extensions is actually more involved than the installation process. When "tightening" tape ins, I remove the extensions, take off the old tape, put on new tape, and essentially re-install them. Because of this, the price of tightening is more than the installation.
Usually for a tightening appointment, the client will arrive and we'll remove their tape-ins. Then they'll go to lunch or run some errands while I stay at the salon and re-tape the extensions. This process usually takes an hour roughly. Then they'll return to the salon, and we will reinstall the tape in extensions. Tightening appointments do not include a finishing style unless requested.
If you plan on keeping your extensions long term, make sure you get them tightened every 8-12 weeks. On average, humans lose 50-150 strands of hair per day. Tightenings are especially important because hair that has already naturally shed will be stuck in the tape glue until I have a chance to brush them out. The longer one waits, the more hair will be stuck in the tape. Waiting long periods of time in between tightening can cause tangling, matting, and stress to the natural hair. Even if they feel fine, it's wise to book an appointment so we can make sure there is no tangling or other problems that you may not be able to see on your own.
